SAVE THE DATE… 2075! Historical Society Seeks Items for Time Capsule The Wood County Historical Society is seeking items for consideration to include in a 2016 Wood County time capsule, which will be placed inside the museum as accessibility construction draws to a close, leaving a legacy for future generations to enjoy and experience. Selected items will be placed into the Time Capsule, sealed, and placed inside the framework of the Museum at a special ceremony later this year, not to be removed until 2075 when the Museum celebrates its 100-year anniversary. Items should be three-dimensional (not paper), have some connection to Wood County or community history, and should not exceed 14” x 16” x 24.” Not all item suggestions submitted may be selected. Donors must be from or live in Wood County. The deadline to submit items for suggestion is June 1, 2016. For more information about submitting items for consideration to the 2016 time capsule, visit woodcountyhistory.org or call the museum at 419-352-0967. Museum Director Dana Nemeth will host a special Time Capsule-making Information Session at the Wood County Historical Museum on Saturday, April 2. Walk-ins welcome between the hours of 1-4 PM. The Museum will also be open for self-guided tours with a suggested donation. There will be no additional charge for the Time Capsule session. Also that day, the Northwest Ohio Blacksmith Association will have their annual forge demonstration at the Historical Center Blacksmith Shop from 9 AM – 2 PM. This event is free. The story - the scene is a small Southern town where Colonel and Christine Penmark live with their daughter, Rhoda. Little Rhoda Penmark is the evil queen of the story. On the surface she is sweet, charming, full of old-fashioned graces, loved by her parents and admired by all her elders. But Rhoda's mother has an uneasy feeling about her. When one of Rhoda's schoolmates is mysteriously drowned at a picnic, Mrs. Penmark is alarmed. For the boy who was drowned was the one who had won the penmanship medal that Rhoda felt she deserved.
