No Child Left Indoors, HPD, FINDLAY

From 8:30AM to 12:30PM

Join the Hancock Park District and Pheasants Forever for a morning filled with youth outdoor adventures as they test their skills and talents! No Child Left Indoors is part of a national movement to reach a generation of young people fixated on electronics and to get them outdoors. This event is focused on reversing the trend of inactivity and obesity in today’s youth and actively engaging them in outdoor recreational activities. These outdoor adventures will educate youth about the importance of nature and conservation with hopes of fostering tomorrow’s leaders and conservation-minded citizens. Activities will include: a nature program, fishing, archery, canoeing & kayaking, BB and shotgun shooting, and much more! Light refreshments will be provided by Whitetails Unlimited. Join us on Saturday, August 15 at Oakwoods Nature Preserve from 8:30 AM-12:30 PM. It is recommended for ages 6-17 with an adult companion. The program is free, but register by calling Mark Plesec at (419) 722-6771. Oakwoods Nature Preserve is located at 1400 Oakwoods Lane, off CR 144, west of Findlay. Victorian Tea, August 15, 2015, 12:30 p.m. “Rosina’s Birthday Tea” Participate in a Victorian birthday tea celebration on August 16, 2015 at 12:30 p.m., at the Grammes-Brown House, 172 Jefferson St., Tiffin. The Tiffin Historic Trust’s e-mail is tiffinhistoric@att.net. New and current members will receive a discount off the $20 admission donation. The Tiffin Historic Trust is hosting the party in honor of Rosina Brown, who donated her 1884 Second Empire style home to the historic preservation organization. Local actor Lois Eisenhard will portray Rosina Brown, as she welcomes the guests to the tea party. The guitar and flute duo of Howard Cole and Mackenzie Honaker will provide the musical entertainment.

The Moon The Millstream Astronomy Club’s, Steve Rice will present a program on the Moon. He will reveal a lot about our nearest neighbor in space that you probably did not know. Later you will be observing Saturn and other objects in the heavens. Look through their telescopes and binoculars or bring your own and they can show you how to use them. Join the club on Saturday, August 15 at Riverbend Recreation Area’s Shelter 5 at 9 PM. All ages are welcome to attend this free program. Registration is not required. Riverbend Recreation Area is located at 16618 TR 208, off SR 568, east of Findlay. Wood County Historical Museum Seeks Personal Colle

Wood County Historical Museum Seeks Personal Collections for New Exhibit The Wood County Historical Museum is seeking applications from the public for a new exhibit: Be Your Own Museum: Our Community’s Collections - a new museum experience where the public can become the curator, expected to open February 1, 2016. This call for submission is open to all Wood County residents, past or present. Applications and details can be found on the museum website at www.woodcountyhistory.org or picked up at the museum Monday – Friday, 10 AM – 4 PM, 13660 County Home Road, Bowling Green. Applications are due by September 1, 2015. This is an application process and not all submissions are guaranteed to be included in the exhibit. The Wood County Historical Society reserves the right to accept on loan an entire collection, a portion, or to deny this collection at any time. If accepted, the Collection Owner will work with the Museum’s Curator to negotiate delivery, presentation, and pick-up of all items. Collections will remain on display from February 1 – December 16, 2016. Local history is personal history, and we hope to see how they tie together. The Wood County Historical Museum strives to share the history of Wood County’s residents, and what better way to examine our past but through the collections of today’s citizens.
