LAUNDRY DAY AT HPD, FINDLAY

From 1:30PM to 4:30PM

Laundry Day If you think that pioneers did laundry with a metal bucket and washboard, think again! Join us for Laundry Day on Sunday, May 4, from 1:30-4:30pm. The HPD’s new washhouse will be open and functional for the first time. Forget everything you thought you already knew about laundry and join 19th century midwife Mrs. Holbrook, portrayed by Living Historian and park volunteer Casey Lauger, as she demonstrates how laundry was really done prior to the washing machine and wringer. Take a seat in the wash house and watch as she rolls up her sleeves and demonstrates how milk, boiling water, and kerosene are used to remove stains. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Then visit the 1847 McKinnis House and workshop to see how the rest of the family and friends are dealing with laundry day. Litzenberg Memorial Woods is located at 6100 U.S. Route 224, west of Findlay. For more information about other upcoming programs, view the HPD Seasonal Program Guide at www.HancockParks.com under the “What’s New” section or call the HPD office at 419-425-PARK/7275 and “Discover Your Hancock Parks”.
